1. Stop Talking - You stop talking and let the other person say whats on his/her mind.

2. Lose Distractions : Including internal distructions from your own mental clearer like things to do for the weekend and extra distructions such as computer, mobile phones and open books....

3. Pretend There Will Be Test - Forcus on what the other person is saying like there will be test at the end of the conversation.

4. Keep An Open Mind - Try not to let your personal beliefs close your mind to new ideas.

5. Respond Appropriately - Use physical and verbal responses appropriately timed to show you’re listening such as nodding your head, raising your eyebrow, saying ahuh etc.

6. Let Them Finish - Let the other person finish what he/she is saying before you jump in with your response. Persist the temptation of jumping in with your response.

7. Ask Questions - Ask questions because clarification is needed but only after letting the person finish.

8. Repeat Back Was Said - You can say things like I just want to be sure I understand you so please let me repeat back what you just said. Then repeat back what you think was said saying; Is that correct, Is that the message you wanted to convey?

9. Allow Natural Pauses - Silence or a pause in a conversation does not necessarily mean you have to jump in and speak right away. Sometimes you better off allow silence while you process what you just heard.

10. Watch For Non-Verbals - Be sensitive to non-verbal queue such as body language and facial expressions
